We’re thrilled to announce the newest addition to our Board of Directors: Traci Martinez, Office Managing Partner at Squire Patton Boggs and a passionate advocate for educational equity and early childhood literacy.
A Lifelong Passion for Early Childhood Education
Traci’s path to our mission is a full-circle journey rooted in the classroom. Before leading in the legal field, she began her professional career as an elementary school teacher, working with second and fifth-grade students in Houston, Texas. Her early experience on the front lines of education—preparing students for state reading benchmarks and helping integrate technology into early learning curricula—sparked a lifelong commitment to ensuring that every child has a strong educational foundation.
“I definitely got a first-seat lens into the critical work that needs to be done to make sure our little ones are ready with reading before they enter school,” Traci shared.
Why Future Ready Five?
Traci’s passion for early literacy is deeply personal and grounded in her time as both an educator and a legal professional. She understands that early reading success not only influences academic achievement but also plays a vital role in a community’s long-term development.
“If we don’t start our time and focus there, then we as a city will be behind where we want to be in terms of economic development and educational access.”
A Unique Perspective for a Critical Mission
In addition to her legal expertise, Traci brings a valuable perspective shaped by her service on the Board of Columbus State Community College. There, she works to strengthen the educator pipeline—aligning perfectly with our goal to prepare young learners and support the adults who teach them.
“This opportunity really meshes all the things I’m passionate about,” she said. “It’s exciting to be part of something that connects my education background, legal work, and community involvement.”
We’re excited to have Traci Martinez on board as we continue to expand access to early literacy interventions for children ages 3–5 in Franklin County. Her leadership and insight will be instrumental as we work to ensure every child enters kindergarten ready to thrive.
Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
